SEASON 2009/10

Season 2008/09

Saturday 4th April

Wokingham & Emmbrook 4 Winnersh Rangers Pumas 3

Wokingham ended the season on a winning note in a very close and well contested fixture. Lewis Frost & Arron Burch both netted twice.

Saturday 28th March

Wokingham & Emmbrook 2 Ascot United Wanderers 2

The windy conditions made football very difficult but Wokingham put up their best display of the season with only 9 players to take a share of the points. Arron Burch and a long range effort from James Bennett were the goalscorers.

Saturday 21st March

Reeves Rangers 2 Wokingham & Emmbrook 0

Wokingham were beset with unavailability and were soon 2-0 down. To the credit of the players they settled down well and after being outclassed in the first half took the game to Reeves after the break. A special mention should be given to Sam Trussler who played in goal and to James Neilson who played exceptionally well out of position in the heart of defence following an injury to Jack Murray.

Saturday 14th March 2009

Wokingham & Emmbrook 1 Rowledge Pumas 7

There is little doubt that Rowledge are by far the best team in the division. However, Wokingham put up a spirited performance after going three behind in the opening 15 minutes. Some of the most encouraging performances were from players who normally do not feature on a regular basis, namely, James Bennett, Michael Irvine & James Neilson.

The extremely hard working Arron Burch contributed Wokingham’s only goal direct from a free kick.

Saturday 7th March 2009

Hurst Romans 2 Wokingham & Emmbrook 1

A much improved display on the previous week and an excellent game of football between two evenly matched teams. Hurst took the lead before Elliot Henry equalised for Wokingham. The deciding goal was scored in the second half and both teams had chances to increase the scoreline before the final whistle.

Saturday 28th February 2009

Wokingham & Emmbrook 1 Bracknell Cavaliers 6

This was only our second game in 3 months (incredibly none were due to the weather), and the performance reflected the absence.

Bracknell Cavaliers thoroughly deserved the victory and Lewis Frost provided Wokingham’s consolation.

Saturday 17th January

FC Bracknell Royals 2 Wokingham & Emmbrook 1

FC Bracknell had the better of the first half and were worthy of their one goal lead at half time.

Wokingham improved dramatically after the break and equalised through Lewis Frost. George Cledwyn-Davies and Arron Burch both went close to secure victory before FC Bracknell scored with the last kick of the game. This was a thoroughly entertaining game, played in an excellent spirit, and very well refereed by a very good arbiter.

Saturday 6th December

Cove Youth 5 Wokingham & Emmbrook 0 (Cup)

The game was switched to Cove because the pitch at Arborfield was unplayable due to heavy rain. Wokingham would like to thank Cove for making all the last minute arrangements to ensure the game went ahead.

Cove were clearly the better side and thoroughly deserved their emphatic victory; to Wokingham’s credit they never gave up but the result was never in doubt.

Saturday 29th November

Ascot United Wanderers 0 Wokingham & Emmbrook 2

Wokingham & Emmbrook showed the greater early ambition but could not manage to find the net in the first half. Lewis Frost gave Wokingham the lead early in the second half and Arron Burch completed the scoring in the closing minutes of the game. This was a hard fought victory epitomised by a top class work rate from Elliot Henry in midfield.

Saturday 22nd November 2008

Wokingham & Emmbrook 3 - 1 Reeves Rangers Blue

Wokingham bounced back to form following last week’s hammering at Rowledge. In an evenly contested fixture Wokingham took the lead early in the second half following good work down the right wing from Elliot Henry, that forced an own goal from a Reeves defender. Reeves hit back to equalise before Wokingham reinstated the lead with man-of-the-match Ben Coulson netting his first goal for the club. Lewis Frost hit the third with virtually the last kick of the game.

Saturday 15th November 2008

Rowledge Pumas 10 – 1 Wokingham & Emmbrook

Rowledge thoroughly deserved their convincing victory out performing Wokingham in every aspect of the game. Elliot Henry was easily the best Wokingham player and capped an impressive display by netting an equaliser early in the first half before the floodgates opened.

Saturday 8th November 2008

Wokingham & Emmbrook 2 – 0 Hurst Romans

In a very even game that could have gone either way, it took a fine finish from Lewis Frost to give Wokingham the lead early in the second half.

Patrick Cronin completed the scoring when he headed home following a corner.

Saturday 18th October

Bracknell Cavaliers 2 Wokingham & Emmbrook 1

Cavaliers took an early two goal lead but Wokingham wasted six good chances to get back into the game before half-time.

Lewis Frost reduced the arrears in the second-half and Ben Coulson nearly equalised but his shot hit the crossbar late in the game.

Saturday 11th October 2008

W&EFC 4 - 2 Sandhurst Town Jaguars

Lewis Frost continued his rich vein of form netting a brace in the first-half as Wokingham recorded their second league victory of the season. Sandhurst hit back early in the second period before Sam Trussler netted following a goalkeeping error. Sandhurst replied with a second before Charlie Strange restored Wokingham’s two goal advantage.

Saturday 4th October

Ginga 0 Wokingham & Emmbrook 5

A break in the league programme allowed a friendly to be arranged against Division 2 outfit Ginga. In a very evenly contested first-half, of few chances, Ginga come the closest to scoring but at the break it was goalless.

The introduction of substitutes Arron Burch and Lewis Frost at half-time changed the game. Arron opened his account for the season early in the second-half before Lewis Frost completed a hat-trick within 22 minutes. Arron Burch netted a second goal to complete an excellent team performance. The defence kept a clean sheet for the first time this season and there were two

Saturday 27th September

Sandhurst Town Jaguars 1 – 0 Wokingham & Emmbrook

Sandhurst took the lead against the run of play when Wokingham & Emmbrook failed to clear from a corner. Lewis Frost and Arron Burch both went close in the first half but were unable to convert chances.

In a very evenly contested game both sides had chances in the second half but the closest effort to goal came from Sandhurst when they hit the woodwork in the closing stages of the game.

Saturday 13th September 08

Wokingham & Emmbrook 1 FC Bracknell Royals 1

In a game of very few chances the points were shared by two evenly matched sides. The best chances fell to FC Bracknell but the woodwork saved the home side on two occasions. Lewis Frost opened the scoring early in the second half for Wokingham & Emmbrook before FC Bracknell gained a deserved point midway through the second-half.

Saturday 6th September 08

Winnersh Rangers Pumas 1 Wokingham & Emmbrook 3

Despite falling a goal behind Wokingham & Emmbrook equalised through Lewis Frost midway through the first half. In a tight encounter that could have gone either way, Lewis Frost netted a second before sealing victory in the dying seconds when he converted his hat trick.
