7th May 2009 ALLIED COUNTIES TEAM
Congratulations to Roger, Dan and all the Allied squad.
Following last year’s success, the initial belief was that if the team could play to their potential they would have a good chance of consolidating their position in the Premier League, and, after an opening game draw against Bisley, this seemed a reasonable assessment.
However, from here on the team were galvanised and as they grew in confidence they began to show they were serious contenders for the title inflicting the League winners Hayes & Yeading’s only defeat of the season .
To finish runners–up is a fantastic achievement and even more satisfying is that the majority of the team have either come through the Youth system or are local lads supplemented by some excellent additions brought in by the management team. Also great credit to Roger & Dan for moulding the players and the time and energy they have put in over the season. As always, success does not come without many people behind the scenes assisting, so congratulations to all in involved.
Neil
Wokingham & Emmbrook Youth Section Chairman
The last 2 weekends have seen the Hicks Development League end of season tournaments for the W&EFC Youth teams, U7-U11.
The Youth teams all acquitted themselves exceptionally well:
The U7s had a fantastic tournament remaining undefeated and winning the Competition.
The U8s, whilst missing several players, were unfortunate not to make the semi finals - losing only 1 game on the day.
The U9s A team were very close to winning their competition - losing in the final at the 4 v4 sudden death.
The U9s B team lost in the semi final in the 4 v 4 sudden death to the season’s League winners.
The U10 A Team played very well, losing in the semi final in the 4 v4 sudden death, after dominating the extra time against the season’s League runners up.
The U10 B team went one better making the final and were unfortunate to lose by the odd goal after dominating much of the game.
The U11A Team played well and was unlucky not to make the semi final.
The U11B team did exceptionally well, winning their semi final and then being edged out in the final.
All in all, great performances from each of our Youth teams.

W&EFC Allied Counties Team - crowned CHAMPIONS!
Congratulations to all involved in a fantastic achievement to win the Southern Allied League and gain promotion to the Premier following a 3-0 hard fought victory over AFC Newbury and clinching the title with 3 games to play having won 12 of their 13 games to date ..
This is a culmination of 10 years hard work by Nigel, Wayne and myself bringing a core group of boys through from U7 to today supplemented by the introduction of several younger talented players developed by Simon Bellis, Roger Herridge and Dan Bateman who will provide the backbone of next years Squad .
Over the years the boys have had unparralled success- but all the time the coaching and encouragement was geared to enable them to develop and play at the highest level possible. We shouldnt forget the other suucessful players who have been involved in the Youth teams and Allied squads but in particular should acknowledge the strength and ability of this group of players - exemplified by so many stepping up seamlessly to First team football or the younger ones emerging with great potential for the future.
The team also need not fear promotion as they narrowly lost 3-2 toNorthwood, who are top of the Premier League , in the quarter final of the League cup - with Northwood going on to win the Middlesex Cup..
This success is testament to the efforts of all those involved in the Club at both Youth and Senior levels and will hopefully provide a platform for the future development of youth football in Wokingham .
Finally , congratulations again to the whole management and coaching team but most of all to the players who have shown a maturity, ability and team camaradrie that belies their years.
Well done - you have done yourselves and the Club proud .
