On Saturday Wokingham & Emmbrook U12 Girls (Effectionately known as the Sumas) won their final game of the season to become joint League Champions along with their opponents Reading Girls. At the start of the game the girls were 3 points behind Reading. Only a win would secure a tied league title and even then it required another result to go their way.
On the day the girls played their best attacking football of the season, maintaining possession and clinically finishing off some flowing moves with devistating accuracy. The final score was 4-2 to the Sumas and the other result in the league went their way as well.
This completed a tremendous team effort throughout the season culminating in the cup and league double in their first season in the Berkshire County Girls League Division One. Well done girls and many thanks for your hard work, attitude and fun that you have brought to all those involved. You are the best.

That's it - completed the team registrations for next season! Two and a half hours (mostly queuing) of last night and only one ID card rejected (because an 8 year old player hadn't signed the card!)

On Saturday the U11 Girls recieved their championship trophy after winning the South Chiltern Minor League Division Two title. It was a great day out in sweltering heat but the Madejski stadium kept everyone in the shade nicely.

Next season Wokingham & Emmbrook FC will have girls teams playing at U10, U12 and U15s. So watch this space the girls are setting their sights high and are having great fun doing it. Well done to all of them.

Well done under 12s - and especially well done Arborfield Park!! The pitch was still in greta condition considering all the rain we have had recently. The under 12s played good football and scored 11 times!

Why is it that some teams can play so well, but just cannot get a goal - not just in a match but throughout the season?
