The Under 18 Allied Counties team is in action this Wednesday night (4/11/09) 7.45pm KO, when it faces last season’s champions, Hayes & Yeading.
We have been playing our matches at Reading Town of late but with this game being played at Bracknell Town FC, it would be great to see a few more club members supporting the team.

However, they came away with all three thanks to goals from Shane Cooper-Clark and Jack Ingram.
7th May 2009 ALLIED COUNTIES TEAM
Congratulations to Roger, Dan and all the Allied squad.
Following last year’s success, the initial belief was that if the team could play to their potential they would have a good chance of consolidating their position in the Premier League, and, after an opening game draw against Bisley, this seemed a reasonable assessment.
Howeve,r from here on the team were galvanised and as they grew in confidence they began to show they were serious contenders for the title inflicting the League winners Hayes & Yeading’s only defeat of the season .
To finish runners–up is a fantastic achievement and even more satisfying is that the majority of the team have either come through the Youth system or are local lads supplemented by some excellent additions brought in by the management team. Also great credit to Roger & Dan for moulding the players and the time and energy they have put in over the season. As always, success does not come without many people behind the scenes assisting, so congratulations to all in involved.
Neil
Wokingham & Emmbrook Youth Section Chairman
MESSAGE FROM ROGER HERRIDGE - 20.04.09
With the season drawing to a close I would like to draw to your attention an opportunity that has arisen for boys to progess their football with a progressive local club.
Wokingham & Emmbrook FC have a youth team that plays in the Allied Counties League (matches played mid-week under lights so will not affect weekend commitments). The squad consists of boys between the ages of 16-18 (qualifying players for next season will be born between 1st Sept 1991 and 31st Aug 1993 ). This year the club would like to offer ALL local teams the opportunity of putting players forward for a series of trials.
The current squad not only consists of players that have developed through our own youth section but also others who have played their football at other clubs such as California, Westwood Wanderers, Meadway and Binfield Dynamos to name a few.
The current squad have performed excellently this season and with 5 league matches to go have a realistic chance of finishing runners up which is a fantastic achievement at this high level of youth football. We are also through to the final of the Berks & Bucks County Cup. In addition to this opportunity to play youth football three of our current squad are also playing regularly for our First team (plus 3 others from the previous years squad) that has performed so excellently in the Hellenic Football League this season and are also looking forward to playing in a cup final at Reading FC’s Madejski Stadium

ALLIED COUNTIES REPORT 19-01-09
The future looks bright for Wokingham & Emmbrook Football club as the club’s youth team (Under 18s) currently sit proudly at the top of the Allied Counties Premier League.
Playing against clubs of a far higher senior status. the team is currently 8 points clear at the top of the table having won seven, and drawn two of the 9 league games that it has played since gaining promotion after comfortably winning the South Division last season.
After opening the season with a draw against Bisley Sports, the side has gone on to perform well above expectations with their most satisfying victories coming against two highly fancied teams - Sun Postal Sports (Watford) and Hayes & Yeading on their own turf.
The side is managed by 1st team Assistant Manager Roger Herridge who is assisted by Daniel Bateman and physio Mark Pugh. First team Manager Wayne Wanklyn is also a regular attendee at matches and he oversees the Allied set up which he sees has an important role in the future success of the club.
The side is seen as an important stepping stone in the development of players from both within Wokingham & Emmbrook’s youth section and from other clubs around the area. The majority of the current first team squad has progressed on from the Allied Counties side over the last few years with three of the current Allied squad, David Bellis, Alex Walton and Jack Broome, regulars in the first team that is performing so well in the Hellenic League.
This year’s Allied squad not only has a number of players that joined the club as 7 year olds and have progressed through, but also players that have joined the Allied set up after playing their boys’ football at a number of other local clubs, including California Boys, Meadway, Dynamos, Camberley Town and Westwood Wanderers.
Home games are currently played at Reading Town FC but with the hopeful development of Wokingham’s ground at Cantley Park just around the corner, the club is optimistic that from next season the side will be playing it’s football under lights in Wokingham.

The under 18's had a long journey home from Wallingford last night following their 4-0 defeat against high flying Thame Utd, in the FA Youth Cup. The home side started the brighter and found themsleves 3-0 up at the break. The young Satsumas put in a much better performance in the second half, however the damage had already been done.
MON 29 SEPT AWAY HAYES & YEADING UTD TBC PREMIER 0 - 1
Captain Wally Walton inspired the U18's to an impressive 1-0 victory away to Hayes & Yeading Utd in the Allied Counties Premier League last night (29/9). The boys put last week's FA Youth Cup defeat behind them and started much the brighter. It was no surprise when centre half Josh Smith scored midway through the first period from a corner from the left. This seemed to inspire the home side, who lifted ther game to put the visitors under immense pressure, however the Satsumas defence held firm. Coach Dan Bateman added afterwards "There will not be many teams taking six points from their visits to Hayes & Yeading and Sun Postal. So we really have to be pleased with what we have so far this season.

9th APRIL 2008
WOKINGHAM & EMMBROOK 3 AFC NEWBURY 0
Wokingham and Emmbrook Allied team turned in another scintillating performance to not only beat AFC Newbury 3-0 but as a result of events elsewhere secure the Southern Division Title with still 3 games remaining, due to a terrific run that has seen them win 12 out of 13 league games and secure their place in the Premier League next Season.
Having played Newbury a few weeks earlier, Wokingham knew they would have to perform to secure the points and so it transpired. In a fairly even first half, albeit the quality of football was of a high standard, chances were few and the closest either came to scoring was a Sam Whiting effort that came off the bar.
In the second half, Wokingham showed that they can raise their game when needed and after several good moves Sean Watson broke the deadlock, after receiving the ball and showing great skill, to beat 3 players and roll the ball into the net. Shortly after a Nick Bateman free kick was headed powerfully home by Jono Mackenzie and the game was all but sealed when a superb passing move saw Watson flick the ball to Sam Whiting who fired unerringly beyond the keeper.
This victory was a real team effort, starting from the back with keeper Sean Woodward and marshalled superbly by captain Shaun Wanklyn alongside Callum Eagle with full backs Alex Walton and Phil Mortimer dominant. The midfield as ever were impressive with Nick Bateman and David Bellis controlling matters and wide players Jack Broome and Jono Mackenzie a constant threat. Up front Watson and Whiting not only showed great skill but also worked tirelessly throughout. This was supplemented by subs Sam Clarke and Charles Gadd both who made immediate impacts and added to this missing players Josh Pearson, Joe Finn, Jack Ingram and alternate keeper Chris Bryan the squad has shown ability and togetherness beyond their years. And this success has been as a result of the whole squad not just the 11 on the pitch.
To win this pinnacle of Youth football is great credit to all the players but wouldn’t have been possible without the excellent management and coaching of Wayne Wanklyn, Nigel Bateman, Sam Page and Dan Bateman and congratulations should be extended to all involved with the Senior and Youth sections.
With Cantley Park on the horizon the future looks very bright both in the short term and longer term for the footballing youth of Wokingham.
